.........unless you are inviting a friend over that has better manners.
Now trust me, I have been accused of this time and time and time again. My cell phone does not leave my hands. I don't pick up calls, but I can text and talk at the same time like a champ. I even challenged my friend to a "text off" (I made it up) to see who was the faster texter in the land (I won). But is that fair?? You are with someone in person for a reason, and they deserve your undivided attention, just like you deserve theirs. It gets so annoying when people are constantly answering their phone, or looking down to see their missed calls, or worse--texting while pretending to hold a conversation with you. Just put it away for the one hour you are out to dinner!! ENJOY who you are with. Unless you just don't enjoy that person. In that case, go under the table and text someone that is cooler to come out and meet you guys.
And ANOTHER thing I am so guilty of is texting while driving. I know how terrible it is and I try not to do it anymore. I started keeping my phone in my purse while I drive because I did an experiment once. One morning I was driving, texting, eating a banana and putting on mascara (woops) and when I got to work I looked at the texts that I HAD TO WRITE while I was driving... and it went along the lines of:
Sam...What do you want to eat for dinner?? I'm already so hungry. I felt like I wanted pizza, but now that I think more about it, I might want mexican. If we get Mexican, want to pretend it's my birthday again?? You're probably still sleeping so just text me later. What are you doing?? God I'm so hungry. Alright, text me.
I mean did that HAVE to be written??? It just takes one split second for an accident to happen. Buckle up, put the phone away, love the one you're with.
